MISSION :: To work in partnership with parents to improve the health and well being of their children.
CHIP brings education and support services to the homes of low-income clients slideshowfamilies with young children who live in Richmond City or Henrico and Chesterfield counties. Enrollment is voluntary; there is no fee for services. While improvement of child health is a primary goal of CHIP, the organization approaches this from a holistic perspective, believing that helping parents gain knowledge, skills and confidence in their performance as parents is essential to child success. Given this broader approach, CHIP must be concerned about positive parenting and positive life choices as well as more medically focused outcomes such as the ones listed below:

OUTCOMES ::

  • Increased Primary Care Access
  • Increased Immunization Rates
  • Increased Birth Weight
  • Decreased Emergency Room Use for Asthma
  • Increased in Pre-School Enrollment
  • Increased Birth Spacing

CORE SERVICES ::

  • A Team Approach
  • Home visits
  • Registered Nurses
  • Family Intervention Specialists
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers
  • Transportation

ELIGIBILITY ::

  • Families with children under six or expecting a child and income below 200% of the poverty level.
  • Voluntary program; referrals accepted from parents themselves or other agencies or service providers, including churches and schools.
  • Families must reside in Richmond City or nearby Henrico and Chesterfield County neighborhoods.
