CHIP of Greater Richmond is a Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) participant. Individuals who donate $500 to $1,666.67 are eligible for a state tax credit credit equal to 45% of the donation if not taken as a federal deduction. Business donors who contribute between $889 and $388,889 are also eligible for a 45% tax credit- NAP was created in 1981 by the General Assembly to provide tax incentives to businesses and individuals to encourage participation in helping alleviate poverty and eligibility is limited to 501 (C)(3) organizations whose primary function is providing assistance for impoverished people in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
